How The Event Went

A complete day-wise summary from registration to closing ceremony.

The Server Surfers – Capture The Flag (CTF) Event was conducted with the objective of introducing students to practical cybersecurity concepts through an engaging and competitive environment. The event aimed to enhance participants’ problem-solving abilities, technical skills, and understanding of real-world security challenges across domains such as web exploitation, cryptography, reverse engineering, and forensics.

The session commenced with an insightful keynote lecture delivered by Arun Gantayat from Kaspersky, who shared his expertise on contemporary cybersecurity trends, threat landscapes, and the importance of proactive defense mechanisms in today’s digital world. His talk provided participants with valuable industry perspectives and set a strong foundation for the hands-on activities that followed.

Following the keynote, participants engaged in an interactive session featuring Kaspersky Interactive Protection Simulation (KIPS), a gamified cybersecurity experience designed to simulate real-world cyberattack scenarios. This activity encouraged teamwork, strategic thinking, and decision-making under pressure, allowing students to experience the dynamics of cybersecurity defense in an immersive format.

Subsequently, the Server Surfers CTF competition was conducted from 2:30 P.M. to 4:30 P.M., where participants tackled a series of challenging problems across multiple categories. The competition fostered a spirit of collaboration and innovation, as teams worked together to decode clues, analyze vulnerabilities, and capture flags within the stipulated time.

At the conclusion of the competition, winners were announced based on their performance and problem-solving efficiency. The top-performing teams were recognized and awarded, and ACM goodies were distributed to participants as tokens of appreciation and encouragement.

Overall, the event successfully achieved its objectives by combining theoretical insights with practical exposure. It provided participants with a comprehensive introduction to cybersecurity, strengthened their analytical thinking, and inspired them to explore further opportunities in the field of information security. Additionally, the event served as a valuable platform for fostering technical curiosity, teamwork, and competitive spirit among students.
