All that you need to know about CyberX:

  • CyberX is an innovative hackathon organized by VIT Chennai in association with the Greater Chennai Police in order to foster development of tools and technology.
  • The domain for the hackathon is CYBER SECURITY.
  • The hackathon will be held in a hybrid form with the intial idea submission round being online and the grand finale at VIT, Chennai campus.
  • The hackathon aims to bring together the brightest minds and and focus their efforts towards building the tech of tomorrow and to help serve society.

Stages and Timelines:

  • The hackathon will have two stages.
   • Registration will be open till 04.05.2023 (23:59 IST).
   • Registration is open to all Indian citizens and is free of charge.
   • Opening Ceremony : 5th May 2023
   • The initial idea submission (Phase 1) round will accept submissions during the window 11.04.2023, 08:00 IST to 06.05.2023, 23:59 IST.
  • Phase 1 results will be announced on 10.05.2023.
  • The grand finale (for shortlisted participants) will be held on 19.05.2023 and 20.05.2023 at VIT Chennai Campus.
  • Details regarding the finale will be intimated to shortlisted participants over mail.

Idea Submission Round (Phase 1)

  • In this round, we expect you to submit two things - a PowerPoint presentation and a pitch video.
  • The PowerPoint presentation should include your problem. statement, your solution, and the impact and USP of your solution.
  • Be terse in the ppt, and save the details for the pitch video.
  • The video is expected to be 1-3 minutes long and should explain your product in detail.
  • Please ensure that both the ppt and the video are uploaded as publicly available before you share the links with us.

About Greater Chennai Police:

    Chennai city Police has traversed 167 years on the sands of time, leaving many a distinct footprint behind which dates back to 1629 A.D. The City Police has undergone a sea change from its initial days. Greater Chennai Police has served as model in urban policing, starting from turn out and touching ideal standards of response time, detection community service and maintenance of Law and Order. Greater Chennai Police with a long and illustrious history has established itself as a truly professional and trend setting Police Force. In line with professionalism, Greater Chennai Police is conducted this Cyber Hackathon join hands with VIT to find out solution for the real time problems that Police Force facing every day.

About Alibi:

  • Alibi is India's first NABL Accredited Cyber Forensic Private Lab, based in Kerala and with Operational Centres in Tamil Nadu and Delhi, and specialising solely in cyber forensics and cyber intelligence. Alibi is a certified ISO/IEC 17001:2017 and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 company.

Training Program:
  • Alibi offers to provide free training in the field of mobile and hard disc forensics to the top 5 teams in the CyberX Hackathon, which costs about Rs.45,000 per person. The training and certification will be immensely beneficial to the trainees' careers. The training period is 40 hours, and certification will be provided at the completion of the training.

Benefits:
  • The trainee will be exposed to actual forensic procedural approach for dealing with any crime involving digital evidence. The trainee will also have the chance to work on actual cases and gain hands-on experience with globally renowned licensed Cyber forensic software tools.

Duration and Schedule Details:
  • The training is available both online and offline formats. Offline training is only available at the Chennai office of Alibi.
Training will take place between the 5th June and 8th July, 2023.
